The life of Afife Jale, the first Turkish female theater artist, is recounted. Since childhood, Afife has been a free-spirited girl who loves her freedom. However, she lives in a conservative family environment. When she turned twelve, she was forced to wear a veil despite her objections. With the support of her family elders, her father allowed her to study painting at the School of Fine Arts. However, Afife's heart was set on theater. Initially, she staged plays for her friends on a small stage she had set up inside her home, performing the plays of the Afife Company. Her greatest obstacle was her father. With the support of her grandfather, the Pasha, and her childhood friend and lover, Dr. Ziya, Afife stood up to her father. She could not suppress her desire for much longer.

The film tells the story of the love between a female university student and a painter. Ayşe, who has come to Istanbul to attend university, is staying in a student dormitory. However, since she wants to move out of the dorm, she and her roommate Hatice start looking for a rental apartment. The two happen to rent Reşit Bey's house. One day, Ayşe and Hatice are invited by Reşit Bey to his nephew's art exhibition. Ayşe meets and befriends Reşit Bey's nephew Bedri there. As the two begin spending time together, their relationship gradually turns into love.

The film tells the story of what a woman does to marry the man she loves. Ali and Leyla love each other. Ali proposes to Leyla. They must get married that day because he is leaving for Germany the next day. They decide to get married in secret, without Leyla's family knowing. However, Leyla's mother and father interrupt the wedding and take Leyla away. Because Leyla is not yet of legal age. The wedding is left unfinished, and Ali goes to Germany. Leyla's neighbor, Mülayim, is also in love with Leyla. However, Leyla's mother demands that a house be purchased as a dowry. The situation in Balıkesir is no different. On one side is Rıza Bey, the village chief who collaborates with Anzavur, and on the other is Osman Müfit, the leader of the National Forces. Rıza Bey's son Ahmet also joins the national forces and fights against his father. Serap returns to Balıkesir from Istanbul. Serap and Ahmet meet in the midst of the war. The Turkish Sultan decides to send his armies in war against the remnant of the Roman Empire, Byzantine. All of his advisory council assent to the move with the exception of one aged councilor, who allies himself with the Byzantines, who kidnap the fiancée of the Turkis army leader. The Sultan orders the army leader, along with two others, to proceed to Byzantine for espionage purposes. There, they contact a couple sympathetic to the Turkish cause and, with their home as the base, gather information about the city's defenses. The Byzantines capture the couple and two of the Turks, leaving only the army leader to escape with the vital information. The Turks use it to make an easy conquest, ending the Roman empire, and creating the Ottoman empire.
