"Over there, it's snowing" tells of the joy and sorrow of December 23rd and 24th, as experienced by the residents of a Munich townhouse. The focus is on the freshly separated Miriam, her daughter Julchen and the awkward pastor Gregor.

Is this what paradise looks like? The Todas tribe in the southern Indian Nilgiri Mountains know neither war nor work nor calendar. The 1000 members feed on the gifts of the jungle, and women maintain the tradition of polygamy.

Only when a 12-year-old boy dies as a result of his alcohol addiction do parents and educators take action. His mother, herself an alcoholic, tries to help two other sick children together with a social worker and pulls out all the stops when they suddenly disappear.
