"La Course destination monde" is a Canadian reality television series, which aired on Télévision de Radio-Canada from 1988 to 1999. The series was a filmmaking competition which sent young, emerging filmmakers from Quebec around the world to make short films about their destinations, with prizes awarded at the conclusion of each season to the best films coming out of the competition. The show premiered in 1988 as "La Course des Amériques", sending filmmakers to destinations in North and South America. The second season, "La Course Amérique-Afrique", continued to highlight destinations in the Americas as well as opening to destinations in Africa, while the third season, "La Course Europe-Asie", centred on destinations in Europe and Asia. From the fourth season onward, the show was titled "La Course destination monde", and permitted filmmakers to travel to anywhere in the world.

L'HOMME DE L'ISLE is a film that offers a look at an island hunting guide and the power of his universe. It depicts a long and beautiful relationship between Gilles Gagné, a man of earthly intelligence and sensitivity, and a great Master...Jean-Paul Riopelle. Together, he hunts, he sips and above all he discusses. While one rediscovers the beauty of his world on Isle aux Oyes, the other draws inspiration from it to create works of art.

Every year, hundreds of bushcutters go up into the woods all over Quebec to carry out forestry work. Since the 2000s, more than 80% of loggers have come from Africa.

The Lac Villiers Foundation, managed by a small family whose destiny is punctuated by the peace of the immensity of the boreal and by the demands of a life on the fringes of civilization, has set up its quarters there. This film plunges into his world and shares his way of life which, like ospreys, is on the verge of extinction.
