There is a tense love between Gelincik and Ali, who grow up together. Ali, who can't stand the coming and going of Gelincik, is about to leave the cergi, and he falls into prison because of Gelincik's slander.

Brothers are in love with the same woman who earns her life by singing songs at night clubs and by sponging on her lovers. One of these brothers (Rahmi) works at a bank. Rahmi spends the money of bank with this singer woman and sooner or later bank authorities find out his malfeasance which brings about a debt on the family of Rahmi; other brother bursts a blood vessel about actions of Rahmi and they face off against each other at nightclub.

After completing his education, a young man named Pertev came to Istanbul and settled in a hotel in Moda. One day, while walking with his fiancée Necmiye Hanım in Moda, an influential figure named Şekip Paşa saw Necmiye Hanım and took a liking to her. He had Pertev Bey arrested on charges of carrying dangerous documents. He managed to bring Necmiye Hanım to his own home with a letter written in Pertev Bey's name. Necmiye Hanım's neighbor was a gangster named Küçük Cemal. Upon learning of Pertev Bey's arrest, Cemal senses an attempt to attack Necmiye Hanım's honor. Through his friend Eftalya, he learns that Necmiye Hanım has entered Şekip Paşa's house. Together with a few friends, he raids the house and manages to rescue Pertev Bey, who is being held captive by Necmiye Hanım and Şekip Paşa, and escape with him.

Ayse who lost her husband and child during the occupation of Izmir by Greek Army in 1919 goes to Istanbul to attend demonstrations which are arranged against the occupation of Anatolia.
