When Binny moves to a new house with her parents in Berlin, the spirit of a fourteen-year-old becomes her roommate. Binny needs to help the ghost in uncovering mysteries about his past and identity.

Carola Weber is shocked when her husband Jochen introduces his new colleague from the hospital: she knows this voice. Hearing it catapults Carola back to the worst time of her life, her imprisonment in the GDR women's prison Hoheneck. She is convinced that Prof. Wolfgang Limberg was the doctor who treated her there with psychotropic drugs in order to force her to testify, and thus caused her to lose two fingers while working on the conveyor belt. Carola's career as a pianist was over forever.

Life isn't easy for 10-year old Ricky - his cooler, bigger brother Micha, who just dropped out of school, is always giving him a hard time. Their parents business is in trouble, and with emotions running high, Michas conflicts with his father threaten to boil over. Things change when the tough and headstrong girl Alex and her dog move to town.
