Ida, a Danish hairdresser who has lost her hair to cancer, returns home from the hospital one day to find her husband is cheating on her. She decides to travel to Italy on her own for her daughter's wedding, but discovers on arriving that the wedding gathering will present its own challenges.

The docudrama addresses the global threat posed by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The film takes a scientifically grounded approach to exploring what lies ahead if antibiotics lose their effectiveness, and how and why resistance continues to spread. It places a particular focus on Germany—specifically the German healthcare system, German agriculture, and the German pharmaceutical industry.

An art film by Per Arnoldi about a wide range of things with redundant, non-functional ornamentation and banal beauty: Cakes, candies, lollipops, mechanical toys, slot machines, paper hats, masks, noses, fireworks, streamers, artificial flowers, pranks, flags and much more more. It is terrific that such ornate things are produced, on top of that by machine, and add appetizing and purchase-promoting properties to them. And in terms of beauty, this very banality can be accepted as fully as anything else. (DFI)

She struggles to improve her social status, however, striving to attain the level of her two elder sisters is not easy. The great upheaval comes when she meets Otto, a smith, younger than Juliane, and in many ways her opposite. He is an ardent socialist, whereas she believes in herself. It is love at first sight when they meet and waltz on the pavement, but their passion really bursts into flame as time goes by. At last Juliane has found a man as strong-willed as she is.

Being yourself – and above all your own master – that is what the film is about. After a short stay at a girls' home, Annie returns to society and has to adapt once again. It isn't long before Annie gets involved in a deadly fight and is even taken to the police station and brought before the court. Fortunately, one of the jurors takes an interest in her and offers to take care of her and give her a home. However, Annie cannot stand this home and runs away.
