Sayed Kashua

A young Arab is caught between cultures as he is sent to a prestigious Jewish boarding school in Israel in the 1980s.

Mohammed lives with his wife and five children in a house located between a Palestinian village and an Israeli settlement. The house becomes a highly strategic location and is occupied by the army. But despite the invasion of Israeli soldiers, Mohammed refuses to leave.

Sayed Kashua always feels he doesn't belong. The Jews don't like him because he's an Arab. The Arabs don't like him because he's successful. The Arabs think he's a collaborator. The Jews think he's a drunk. He is always viewed as an Other, and he's always scared.
