In March 2020, the world shuts down. Billions of people were confined to their homes by a virus. As it became clear that only a vaccine could stop the pandemic, a race began between the four great powers: the USA, Europe, Russia and China. The first to develop a vaccine would gain a significant advantage in global geopolitics.

Over half a century of public service, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing embodied the dream of a united and strong Europe. From the youthful enthusiasm of the 1950s to the disillusionment of the 2005 referendum, his career chronicles an ideal confronted with the realities of power, national resistance, and populist winds. He tirelessly attempted to realize his youthful dream: a United States of Europe.

Others have told his story. Biographies, ex-wives or ex-friends talking about him in various themed documentaries, Gainsbourg never lost the spotlight, as if he had died just a few months ago, in a never-ending cycle of life... But never before had her story been told in her own words, rocky, moving, provocative. Thanks to Christian Fevret, founder of Les Inrockuptibles, Serge Gainsbourg recorded the story of his life on audiocassette, for a 7-hour interview conducted in the secluded confines of his Paris home, 5 bis rue de Verneuil, in 1990. Throughout the interview, Serge Gainsbourg never loses his sense of humor or his distance from a life he knows he has lost sight of.
