Bernard Hinault

Combining the author's poetic voice with those of Bernard Hinault, Antoine de Caunes, and Daniel Mangeas, the film offers a passionate journey into the heart of the history and imagination of the Tour. It captures the spirit of the great epics, the Anquetil-Poulidor duel, Yvette Horner's accordion, the popular fervor, but also the physical and spectacular reality of the dangers of racing. Women's cycling plays an important role thanks to the testimony of Cédrine Kerbaol. The contemporary scene is represented by cyclist Guillaume Martin.

François decides to participate in the Tour de France alone, inspiring a wave of media enthusiasm, much to the chagrin of the Tour's pros.

Before Lance Armstrong, there was Greg LeMond, who is now the first and only American to win the Tour de France. In this engrossing documentary, LeMond looks back at the pivotal 1986 Tour, and his increasingly vicious rivalry with friend, teammate, and mentor Bernard Hinault. The reigning Tour champion and brutal competitor known as “The Badger,” Hinault ‘promised’ to help LeMond to his first victory, in return for LeMond supporting him in the previous year. But in a sport that purports to reward teamwork, it’s really every man for himself.

Son of a former Tour de France commissioner, Patrick Le Gall evokes the history of the Tour de France from 1903 to 1996, from Anquetil to Indurain, from Coppi to Poulidor, passing by the coaches, the groupies, the heroes and the anonymous. Unpublished archive images show the great and small sides of the race. These images revisited by the emotion will be a good moment to discover the world of cycling otherwise.
