The sailor Audrius comes ashore for the last time in his life. The story unfolds through Audrius’ journey and his many encounters over the weekend as autumn turns to winter. He is driven by a severe lack of time. Inadequate actions and reactions make sense when we find out his secret: he’s dying of Leukemia. During his grandmother’s birthday in her countryside village, surrounded by his family and after reassuring his son, he makes a final attempt to find resolve and peace. Farewell is a moving universal tale, uplifting and heart warming, verbally laconic and visually rich. It is a clear-cut story of the human spirit, which is both relentless and immortal.

The performance is based on the play of the same name by Ilya Ilf, and Yevgeny Petrov.

The year is 1940 and Nazi Germany is at the height of its military prowess, having captured most of Europe and eyeing the Soviet Union to the East. The Russian military command suspects hostile intent from Germany and so arranges for its spies to infiltrate ranks of the German military and the SS. Alexander Belov is a Russian spy, who travels from Soviet-held Latvia to Nazi Germany under an alias of Johann Weiss. His mastery of the German language, steel nerves and an ability to manipulate others help him to use his connections in the SS to ascend the ladder of the German intelligence. He uses his position to identify sympathetic Germans, who help him to procure vital intelligence, and to help local resistance movements in their collective fight against Nazism.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by P. Kuusberg and tells about the fate of former classmates, high school students, during the Second World War and in the post-war period.

In 1943, Alex, who recently returned to the city of Kaunas, tries to join the anti-Nazi resistance, but is captured and imprisoned. He soon starts planning his escape.

A wealthy businessman, Meredith Borden, is murdered. Two innocent people fall under suspicion – Borden’s secretary’s wife and a building contractor. Lawyer Jerry Jackson is convinced of their innocence and takes on their defense, fully aware that by doing so he will incur the wrath of the highest circles connected to the crime.

The main conflict is developing between the young talented scientist Romas Špokas and Karolis Budrys, who, by hook or by crook, is trying to occupy the chair of director of a research institute, organized for the widespread development of work on the implementation of Špokas’ promising scientific idea.
