Marriage to a despotic man is unbearable for Liliana Garson. But Hugo is killed in a car accident and feeling helpless Liliana returns home but she is offered a ray of hope from an unexpected source. The Portorican prime minister asks British detective Sherlock Holmes to find a twin for King Fernando XXIII, a weak and frightened man who fears anarchists and does not want to show himself in public. Holmes finds in the Czech newspapers a photo of the perfect double, František Lelíček, a daring bon vivant drowned in debt, so when Holmes offers him money, Lelíček decides to travel to Portorico and play the role.

The workers are then faced with the enormous task of building a new plant on the site of the ruins and starting production. Their efforts are truly bearing fruit - after immense sacrifices, Stalin's plants are back in full swing, which is something that competitors abroad don't like to see and they try to use the reaction to liquidate the production of synthetic gasoline...

Colonel Švec (original Czech title: Plukovník Švec) is a 1930 Czechoslovak historical war drama. It was a major patriotic production for its time, focusing on the story of Josef Jiří Švec, a real-life commander in the Czechoslovak Legions during the Russian Civil War.

Eman Vovísek drinks away his unrequited love for Liduška, who married his cousin, the factory owner Danek. Because Eman is aggressive when drunk, he is taken to a mental health facility, where he meets his uncle Hanibal. Hanibal has a breakdown after his wife Matylda broke up with him. Matylda wanted to be free so she could marry her first love, Uncle Jonathan, who is due to arrive from America. Jonathan sends a telegram saying he will stay in Paris. Such a situation does not suit Danek. He assumed that Liduška would be visiting from America and that he himself would go to his mistress in the meantime. He therefore visits Vovísek and persuades him to play the role of Jonathan.

Helena Leeová is at a spa with her daughter Marcelka. One day a lifeguard saves her from drowning. The rescued woman comes to in the lifeguard's arms. This incident is used by the newspapers to promote a society scandal. They print a report that the lifeguard was seen with Helena in her bedroom. Helena's husband, the banker Filip Lee, is a candidate for bank president. The scandal threatens his career and thus Lee at once demands a divorce. His legal representative, Jan Farrland, not only wins the divorce suit but also manages to have Helena's daughter taken from her custody. One day Farrland meets Helena at a society party and he comes to understand that he has wronged her, and he falls in love with her.
