Kanika Majumdar was born in (1935 - 2019) Mymensingh, then East Bengal (now Bangladesh) to an elite Brahmin family. She made her acting debut in the famous director Mrinal Sen's Punascha. Although, her first released film was Satyajit Ray's film Teen Kanya.
