In the sequel of "Ants in the Pants" we again meet Flo and his friends.

On the morning of his hundredth birthday, Fanny finds her grandfather dead in his bed. As she and her family are forced to deal with the death, a bitter dispute over the inheritance erupts, in which old power relations are reversed.

Editor Eckernförde has come into the possession of an audiocassette that contains a recording of the last minutes of deceased politician Uwe Barschel. The circumstances of his untimely death have never been completely resolved - until now. Unfortunately, the editor's daughter Nina accidentally takes the tape with her to Munich, where she is about to visit her paralyzed Mom in a sanatorium. When this information reaches the CIA and the BND, both organizations compete to get hold of the tape. Meanwhile Erkan & Stefan, two loveable wannabe supercheckers from Munich, are assigned as bodyguards for Nina - of course, they are expected to mess up their job, so that the tape can be retrieved. But the two friends prove to be a bit more streetwise than CIA or BND ever expected.

Between 1924 and 1934, six children grow up in an apartment building in the Munich suburbs. Among them is the rather inconspicuous and melancholy Leo Knie, who has been in love with the pretty Marilli Kosemund since early childhood. Marilli is not averse to the young man's advances, but she wants to be conquered. But that is exactly what shy Leo finds difficult. So he escapes into harmless dancing with his buddies, pursues other girls - rather unsuccessfully - and resigns himself to his predetermined fate.

Hanni and Nanni are not only sisters, but also best friends. The twins are inseparable and always up to something. When they cause a wild chase through a department store, their wealthy parents have had it: They send the girls to the posh boarding school Lindenhof in order to teach them some manners. While sweet-tempered Nanni quickly makes new friends, the impulsive Hanni has a hard time accustoming herself.

After they have graduated from school, the two best friends Kati and Jo jump into their purple Benz and embark on a journey around the world southwards. Kati, however, struggled with the decision for the journey as the love of her life returned to their hometown Tandern shortly before their departure.
