The story tells of the events that befall a man living during the Tulip Era due to his lust for power. Kuyucubaşı Şaban Çelebi purchases a tulip from an Indian merchant that rejuvenates its owner over the years. Dreaming of living for many years thanks to this tulip, Çelebi seeks to have İbrahim Pasha killed and take his place. When news of the rejuvenating tulip spreads, Şaban Çelebi is arrested and brought to the palace. They attempt to seize his tulip, but it is stolen. Ferdi, one of three childhood friends, leaves his money with his friends before going to prison for a robbery they committed. When he is released, his first task is to find his friends, for whom he went to prison, and get his share, but nothing goes as he expected. His beloved friend does not return the money and, moreover, has introduced Ferdi's girlfriend Türkan to drugs. Ferdi swears an oath to rescue his girlfriend and get his money back.

The police question Cemile, a young girl who was taken to the hospital with injuries and found to have alcohol and drugs in her blood, as well as evidence of rape, but they do not believe her. There is insufficient evidence and no witnesses. The person who reported the incident is nowhere to be found, and Cemile is accused of prostitution. Prosecutor Yalçın shares the same opinion as Commissioner Mahmut. Everyone who attended the party at the house where the incident took place and where Cemile went with her fiancé Sedat is questioned. They all say that Cemile came of her own free will. Cemile identifies them, but due to lack of evidence, all suspects are released.

In this biographical drama, the Turkish writer Rifat Ilgaz (Tarik Akan) is forced to go into internal exile after World War Two, because the government suspects him of being a communist. Most of the movie follows him while he is on the lam, and during his reunion with his wife, who grows testy from the restrictions that hiding him impose on her. Eventually he turns himself in, and while in prison, suffers some torture. All the same, he endures with the flame of his spirit undiminished.

İffet goes on a voyage with her father, who is a captain. She falls in love with a man named Bilal who works on the ship, and they become intimate. At the end of the voyage, Bilal is arrested for smuggling. Some time later, İffet learns that she is pregnant. Upon learning of this, her neighbor Melek tries to take advantage of İffet's situation.
