Eilif Armand

A movie loosely based on a strike in the community of Sauda, Norway 2. June 1970. The strike lasted for five weeks, and was on the news almost every day.

" Broder Gabrielsen " in its time awoke a major debate , and already during the shooting of the film went high waves in the press . The film points a strong warning against religious fanaticism and against contemporary preachers, and it met then also strong opposition from some of these . In the film we meet the piecemeal lay preacher , Brother Gabrielsen ( ALF MALLAND ) , who discovers how modern music , rhythms and ecstasy gives great success when it comes to getting listeners to his preaching . He will soon get his big break , and keeps ecstatic revival meetings with tongues and " healings " through prayer . It ends in discouragement and defeat then wonders absent for Gabrielsen , and personal tragedies for those who were misguided .

The year is 1630. A young woman in Laupstad comes to a small mountain village. She witnesses a woman being hunted and captured.

Erik Dahl escapes from prison where he is serving a sentence for smuggling. He seeks out his family, but the police have already been there, and he will have to flee. Erik alters their appearance and start a new life as fishmonger in a small town, but he plans to leave the country...

Schoolmates 20 years later.

Hans Nielsen Hauge was a Norwegian reformer in the early 1800's both financially and spiritually.

Robert Lund (Roy Bjornstad) is a weary man, and his days as a starring saxophone player seem to be near their end. The Nazis have occupied Norway for some time, and he has been passing the time by telling his son Bobby (Erik Andersson) some tales of his previous exploits.

This black-and-white Norwegian film is a great rarity: a film with comic elements set in a mental ward which does not overstep the bounds of common sense or good taste.

Lina is in her best age, mid-30s. She is strong-willed, resilient and self-conscious. There has never been a man in her life, on the contrary, she even had to play the man's role on the small farm to sustain herself and the parents. But the quest for true love and longing for a man is still strong. She has never had the opportunity to realize this dream in the confined environment she lives in. Her obstinacy has also scared off the men. But one day Gilbert returned to the village after being in America for 20 years.

A deckhand, Rolf Just Nilsen, is mistaken for pop singer Dickie Dons, also played by Rolf Just Nilsen, aboard the car ferry from Kiel to Oslo. The deckhand quickly settles into his new role and enjoys drinking champagne with the captain. However, things become more difficult as time goes on – not least because Dickie Dons turns out to be secretly married to his secretary.
