And when Ruda, his friend from Prague, also insists, José agrees to return to the places he used to know and to the memories that they bring back – including his former Prague love. These are the words the filmmakers use in the credits to describe their project, which thematises the execution of more than 260 Carpathian Germans, Hungarians and Slovaks by Czechoslovak army soldiers near Přerov in June 1945. The “massacre at Přerov” is made present through a minimalist dramatisation of the interrogation footage of direct participants, eyewitnesses, and others. A short film based on the book by Slovak author Pavol Zeleňák, "Keď sú tajomstvá iba služobné" (When Secrets Are Only Official). In four tragicomic short stories—banking, confessional, medical, and state secrets—the viewer learns what can happen when bank clerks, priests, doctors, and ministers reveal or abuse official secrets. Regardless of the reason for their actions, they can cause curious problems or even tragedy.
