Mit der Kamera im ewigen Eis – Teil 1
1913
10.0A record of the ascent and descent of Monte Rosa on skis by Arnold Fanck, Hans Rhode and Sepp Allgeier. The party starts from Zermatt through the Rhone Valley. They climb roped from the Betemps Cabane and reach the summit of Monte Rosa, then, they start the descent on skis to return to the refuge. The film is one of the first ski mountaineering films and the first collaboration between Allgeiger and Fanck, two of the fathers of the Bergfilm, the German mountain film genre.
4628 Meter hoch auf Skiern
1913
"Demonstration of rock climbing in the Dolomites. Four climbers scramble unroped up a gully on limestone rock. They rope up for a steep chimney, which the leader climbs. Their route continues up a wall, a crack, and across a traverse on a narrow ledge. This is the first German mountain film, made by Sepp Allgeier. Allgeier was the cameraman of Arnold Fanck, Leni Riefenstahl and Luis Trenker, so due to its invaluable contribution to the genre, he can be considered as one of the fathers of the Bergfilm, the German mountain film."
