The Trampoline is not a romantic love story - it is a film about a powerful and sometimes double-edged love, and the darker side of a mother-daughter bond that has been stretched to breaking point.

Two parallel tales about two modern women. One is Štefica Cvek, average and lonely girl who desperately tries to find the man of her dreams. The other story is about a woman director who is making the movie about Štefica and has the same problem.

Marijana, a young woman from Zagreb, is a medical student from Tuškanac who fell in love with a worker’s son from Dubrava. But in socialism, class differences make it difficult for those in love… Based on the eponymous bestseller by Branislav Glumac.

The plot takes place on January 14, 1800 when American president’s wife Martha Washington (45) invites her husband’s long-time lover, Silvia Caver (35), over to the presidential estate.

The film was created based on the stories of Marino Zurl, head of humanitarian action of the weekly Arena newspapers, who from 1963 to 1971 was looking for the next of kin of children separated from their parents during World War II and taken to camps and shelters. Many of them later grew up in orphanages or foster families, like the three main characters of this film, Ana (Biserka Ipša), Nenad (Mustafa Nadarević) and Toma (Božidar Orešković). Each of them relates in a different way to the past and the possibility that, as young accomplished adults, they can finally solve the secret of their identity and meet members of their real families.
