After his wife’s death, a widower gathers his family of six sons in their house.

Dealing with his customers with open heart, a car mechanic named Života goes through many adventures. Some are funny, some are sad, some reveal beauty and other human misery. In the end he gets tangled up himself, and not without bitterness he tries to change his ways, to become like his rival across the street which has adapted to modern times: strictly business. But, people who come to him need him just the way he is.

The consequences of this encounter are beneficial. Capable to love again, he gets his moral strength, and disease retreats. He breaks off his contacts with his wife's family and with "petit bourgeois" of his former life, confronts his boss and wins, realizing that this is only a first victory which has straightened him up.

Lyrical story about a young double bass musician who travels with fellow musicians out of town to play at a wedding in a summer house. A thief and a girl, a bride at a wedding, will unexpectedly determine his fate. In a film without dialogue, music has a special role.
