Liao Yi-chiao

It's the summer of 1993, six months since the death of Wang's wife, Chuen-Ying. His son, Chi-Shiung, has just come home from Taipei in order to take care of his father's Baozi (steamed buns with stuffing) business. Although he didn't want to take over his father's store, Wang insisted he wanted to keep it. Chi-Shiung suggested to his father that he hire some extra staff and so Ying, a Vietnam woman, is hired. In the mean-time Wang can't get over Chuen-Ying's death and begins to burden Ying. —Jean Huang

10+10 is a project initiated by the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival to demonstrate the solidarity between Taiwanese film-makers. 20 directors are invited to make a 5-minute short film each on the theme of the “Uniqueness of Taiwan,” but allowed total freedom in all other aspects.

What is youth all about? Before they could figure out what was happening, Xiao-Bu finds herself in a cat fight with Angel over a cigarette, Ah-Mi sleeps with Xiao-Bu’s boxer boyfriend, and Angel kisses Xiao-Bu. What could be worse? Imagine living with an alcoholic father who chose nothing in life but to stare out of a window. Picture the embarrassment if bird droppings stained your clothes just as you were asking someone out on a date. All three girls fall in love, feel hurt, forget and have experiences that are as random as 17 year-old Xiao-Bu’s coin toss which decides her future relationship with Angel.

A middle-aged couple are taking a walk by the harbour and having a fight when they meet an old acquaintance. When they walk past the Mazu temple, where he proposed to her, it reminds them of how things used to be.

On the day when Hui’s long-gone father suddenly reappears, she and her sister spend happy hours with him. However, when Father announces they will embark on a journey abroad, Hui knows she must reveal the truth about his mental illness.
