Aristides Papakatsikas welcomes two nephews to his home, the wealthy Manolis from America and the poor Manolis from Amaliada, whom he has never met in person. The General's wife though, Lia (Rena Vlahopoulou), covers for her brother (Andreas Douzos) who has embezzled from her husband's organisation and the letter proves the lies and embezzlements. Finally, Lia gets hold of the letter despite the honest man's objections but the General, decides to hire him due to his honesty. There, he discovers the embezzlements and when he tells everything to the General, his wife and her brother try to prove that he is crazy, a crook, a communist and anti-systemic, things that usually make the General furious. The honest man is imprisoned but in the end Lia decides to come forth with the truth.

During the years of the German Occupation, Dimitris Korres, commander of a police station, is considered a collaborator of the occupiers but everyone, even his daughter Maria, is wrong as he, code-named "OP 34", is one of the leading members of the Resistance. From his post he helps Greek patriots and saves the lives of prisoners, such as Lieutenant Avgeris, whose plane was shot down in Greek airspace. Avgeris is in love with Maria, who tries to help him flee to the Middle East, but they are captured by the Germans. Avgeris, in order not to be harmed, agrees to cooperate with them.

Fani returns from abroad after her father's suicide. She accepts the harsh treatment of her relatives and distances herself from their environment. The film is based on real events and tells the story of a group of Greeks who successfully escape from the Boules camp and return to Greece. Boules was a town that took in Greek refugees from the Civil War of 1945-1949. The escape took place because the exiled leaders of the illegal Communist Party of Greece began to exterminate their former comrades who did not share the views of the clique of the party's new secretary general, Nikos Zachariadis. The atmosphere in the camp was unbearable in every respect.
