Thanos Martinos

An unbeatable gentleman, he meet a widow, owner of a nightclub that has a hidden casino in its own. He goes in the club, plays cards and wins at first. During the years of the German Occupation, Dimitris Korres, commander of a police station, is considered a collaborator of the occupiers but everyone, even his daughter Maria, is wrong as he, code-named "OP 34", is one of the leading members of the Resistance. From his post he helps Greek patriots and saves the lives of prisoners, such as Lieutenant Avgeris, whose plane was shot down in Greek airspace. Avgeris is in love with Maria, who tries to help him flee to the Middle East, but they are captured by the Germans. Avgeris, in order not to be harmed, agrees to cooperate with them.

A wealthy young man falls in love with the Roma girl Mara. Both the young man's family and the girl's family react to the possibility of the two lovers getting together, and conflict is inevitable.

A sweet and rich girl loves a poor shepherd and thus rejects the marriage proposals of a rich man. He accuses her beloved of theft—which the shepherd boy never committed, of course—but his scheming does not lead to the desired result.

The film is based on real events and tells the story of a group of Greeks who successfully escape from the Boules camp and return to Greece. Boules was a town that took in Greek refugees from the Civil War of 1945-1949. The escape took place because the exiled leaders of the illegal Communist Party of Greece began to exterminate their former comrades who did not share the views of the clique of the party's new secretary general, Nikos Zachariadis. The atmosphere in the camp was unbearable in every respect.

Liakos is a poor shepherd boy who is in love with the beautiful village girl Diamanto, who reciprocates his feelings, but her mother does not want the brother of her husband's murderer as her son-in-law. The honest man is imprisoned but in the end Lia decides to come forth with the truth.
