Romania in the year 1947: two years after the end of the second World War, the King (Mihai of Hohenzollern and Romania) has to leave the country, the communism is knocking at the door, and in these uncertain times, two young people are fighting to get their dream become real artists.

Six carpenters from Maramureș go to a village in Bărăgan to build some stables. These are the head of the family, 4 brothers and their sister, Mara. Her beauty attracts local suitors.

Romanian army reaches Budapest near the end of WW II. A small group of soldiers block some Nazi units on their way to Tatra mountains.
