Alois can’t get rid of these nightmares and eventually ends up in sanatorium. In the sanatorium, he gets to know The Mute, a man carrying an old photograph who was arrested by the police after crossing the border. No one knows why he came to Bílý Potok or who he’s looking for, but it is his past that propels Alois on his journey…

Very soon, however, she discovers that just as murder is morally complex, it is equally complex logistically, despite her former pupil, now on probation, offering her this priceless life advice: “Crime only looks simple, Mrs. Teacher, but then something always goes to shit.”

This fairy tale, full of humor and suspense, begins in a small town where preparations are underway for a theatrical performance. The play tells a local legend about enormous riches hidden deep underground. Many long to find them, but those who set out in search of them never return. The play features two sisters, Kačenka and Barborka, as well as Jakub, a musician and Barborka's jealous boyfriend. The theme of the play also attracts the miserly lord of the castle, Bořivoj Hájek z Hájku, who arrives with his brother Ignác, an eccentric inventor and researcher. And somewhere underground, near the real treasure, sit his three ghostly guards, passing the time by inventing all sorts of pastimes, which the Lord of the Underground does not enjoy at all. His patience will run out the moment the bored guards interfere with human destinies, because of a bet on how the love between Jakub and Barbora will turn out.

Milan Rastislav Štefánik was the first Slovak to circumnavigate the world, to climb Mont Blanc, to survive the shooting down of his ice-plane during World War I. He was an intellectual, scientist, inventor, astronomer, national hero, but also a lover of women and a bon vivant. 100 years ago, everyone considered his dreams a utopia, but he was not afraid to step into the unknown and realise his dream of liberating his own nation. His life story seems almost unbelievable, considering that he did it all as a single man in failing health, from the poorest of circumstances.

A Gogolian grotesque with elements of Italian neorealism underscored by Janáček's four-part harmonies. The Divadlo v Dlouhé theater consciously renounced folkloric color and psychological insight into the souls of individual characters and focused primarily on a comedic view of everyday Czech life, in which vanity and personal interests often play a key role. Director Jan Borna based his production on Miroslav Macháček's famous adaptation, which, however, underwent minor changes in the staging by the actors of the Divadlo v Dlouhé theater.

Young married couple Hana and Dan form a chamber duo. They are young and have their whole lives ahead of them. She sings and he accompanies her on the piano. Hana wins a prestigious competition and immediately attracts interest, or rather, interest in both of them. The agency sends them to concerts all over the country. Some places are great, others terrible. But above all, they have to travel quickly before they are pushed out by winners of other competitions. And Dan and Hana travel and play and are happy. And then one night, on the way back, it all ends. A moment of inattention, a drunk man stumbles along a forest road. Hana stops, Dan finds out that the man is alive, everything is fine. Or is it?

Opera employees are falling dead from the fly loft, box number 8 cannot be sold because it has been reserved by a mysterious figure wearing a white mask, and the newly appointed director is receiving strange letters from a certain Ghost of the Opera.

A story inspired by real events from the 1950s to the 1970s. Honza Steiner was neither a tough guy nor a thug. He was just a boy who had the misfortune of finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. He ended up on the wrong path due to a series of unfortunate coincidences. Honza was raised in children's homes, juvenile detention centers, and eventually prison. He waged a long, undeclared war with a public security officer, one that was not exactly abounding in rules. The conflict culminated in a staged hunt for Honza, who unfortunately shot his arch-enemy and was sentenced to death for it.

One day in the life of a young taxi driver. Prague taxi driver Jarda wants to celebrate his birthday. He has everything nicely planned and under control, just like everything else in his professional and private life. He gets along with everyone, takes care of everything, and everyone is happy with him. Jarda simply "knows his way around." He has a wonderful wife, a beautiful apartment, a relaxed job, a new lover, and lots of good friends, but then a man gets into his new taxi, a man whom fate has also presented with a series of unexpected and complicated situations and fundamental decisions that day. And so, in their unexpected companionship and day-long journey, a number of relationships and values are transformed for both of them.

A bitter comedy about how difficult it can be to forgive parents for their concern, reproaches, or unfulfilled expectations was filmed in Ostrava by Czech Television director Lenka Wimmerová. We can guess what lies behind it this time too – is it the emptiness in their own lives after their children have left home, or disillusionment with their own failed marriages? The main character, Ivana, lives alone, without a husband and without her daughter, who is abroad. She suffers from insomnia and finds it difficult to detach herself from family injustices and her own life failures.

"Why is my son stupid?" laments the poor Roma coal miner. His son Dilino is a nice boy, but he still causes his parents a lot of worry. He hasn't picked up much sense, so he's not much use to the coal family, and he's got all kinds of crazy ideas on top of that. For example, he began to force his unfortunate father to go and ask for the hand of the princess herself for him!

Four friends, Karel, Milan, Tomáš, and Vinco, lose their jobs in Ostrava’s working-class districts and, with their livelihoods gone, struggle to redefine themselves. The story of František Stára, a recovering alcoholic, concertmaster, and composer. After returning from alcohol rehabilitation, he quickly realizes that his euphoric determination to start over is a tragic illusion. His wife has moved out of their apartment and found another man. A similar fiasco awaits him at his former job and later during his short stint at an elementary art school. At the most difficult moment, when František's private hopes and professional plans are collapsing and he resigns, he is selflessly helped by his former fellow patient from the clinic, Eda Mandík. This man, himself weak, inconsistent, and irresponsible, with unexpected and self-destructive devotion, gives up his own personal happiness and energetically spurs his flagging will to save his only friend. The price Eda pays for this act is not small, but his sacrifice was meaningful.

After the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops, everyone is packing their bags to leave the country. Martin Ivánek, who has just been dismissed from his position as head physician, has a valid passport and an exit visa to the United Kingdom. He has made up his mind. But! In the villa of their classmate Paddy, who was expelled from high school because of his mixed heritage, his former classmates gather, obsessed with jazz and the desire to start their own band. They succeed, and when Paddy's father takes Zuzana, whose parents are in a concentration camp, under his wing, the band also gains a singer. Zuzana and Paddy fall in love. Their classmates prepare a concert, but it is threatened by a ban imposed by the high school principal, who says that students are not allowed to perform in public after 7 p.m. Zuzana lures the principal to Prague with a fake invitation, where he is to be awarded the Protectorate Order for his pedagogical merits. The Maskovaní banditi concert takes place, but the price the students pay is high...

A professor reunites with an old friend who inspires him to return to Czechoslovakia for the first time since he emigrated years ago.

Capturing the dark humor of Czech author Michal Viewegh's chronicle of life after the Velvet Revolution, this black comedy chronicles three decades in the life of a small Czech family. While the original novel centered on the protagonist Kvido from his conception through his adulthood, first time director Petr Nikolaev and screenwriter Jan Novak changed the focus to his parents Milena, an extremely self-effacing lawyer who acts on stage in her spare time, and Ales, a rather aimless government worker who tends to drift wherever the wind takes him. The lives of Ales and Milena change dramatically following the Russian invasion of Prague in 1968.
