The couple, Adel and Salwa, live a quiet life. A problem occurs in the kitchen, so a plumber comes to repair some pipes. The plumber assaults Salwa, and since then, the relationship between the couple has split.

The film is an adaptation of a novel by Ismåeel Walieddin. The main character, Ahmad, leaves rural eastern Egypt for the city hoping to become economically self-sufficient, gets an apartment for his parents, and obtains a law degree. He and his family are refugees from a town occupied by the Israeli army, Ismaåilia. Ali, the owner of the Malatily Bathhouse, offers to let him stay there for free. Ahmad encounters several characters there, including Naåeema, a prostitute who he becomes obsessed with, and Raouf, a homosexual man.

During a trip outside Beirut, a love story develops between two young men: a beautiful girl and her young lover. This story then faces many troubles, but they overcome them and get married.

The contractor Al-Helbawy opposes his son Nabil's relationship with his classmate Ahlam due to the difference in social status. As he sets Ahlam up and gets her imprisoned, he weds Nabil to Sawsan, the daughter of the Director of the General Intelligence who helps him in his smuggling operations.

The events revolve around the athletic young man Kamal who loves Sanaa and wants to marry her, but her father refuses because he roots for Kamal's rival team. He tries to marry her to Rafik, who secretly works in smuggling. Kamal tries to reveal his truth to marry Sanaa.
