Cameras follow the citizens of Rome as they go about their days and traverse the city. At dawn, a man leaves home and takes the bus, while a group of Chinese people do morning yoga exercises.

Five friends who form the "inseparables" group spend an evening having a gargantuan dinner. Returning home, one of them has a heart attack and dies. Soon, however, other friends of the group are also found dead under mysterious circumstances.
