Tarakanova is a 1930 French historical drama film directed by Raymond Bernard and starring Édith Jéhanne, Paule Andral and Olaf Fjord. It depicts the life of Princess Tarakanoff, the pretender to the throne of Catherine II in Eighteenth Century Russia.

Militis, a sailor, returns to a bar where he finds Sarah, the girl he once loved and is still attracted to. However, he is now married to an exotic woman who took care of him during an illness.

James, the supervisor of an agricultural colony, is in love with Hélène, who is unfortunately meant for another. At Hélène's engagement party, James has an argument with her fiancé. When the latter gets mysteriously killed, James is arrested and condemned to twenty years of hard labor. Hélène is convinced James is innocent but she falls under the control of a gold digger who has set up a dummy company with the money stolen from James. The swindler is finally arrested and Hélène and James are reunited.

Professor Poponof, an old scientist, has just discovered a truth serum. Amédée, a burglar who has been surprised in his apartment, will become the perfect guinea-pig for testing the prof's last find. And it works well. Too well in fact, for if Amédée tells the truth he tells it to everybody and in every circumstance, thus causing disasters around him.
