Lalakis is married with Poppe. He goes on a trip to Salonique by train, with his mistress, pretending that he has business there to attend. After his wife found out the truth about the motive of her husbands trip, finally accepts the proposition of Nikos, a man who was in love with her for a long time, and they go to a little village called Thyrassia, which has also a train station. By accident Lalakis and his mistress get down at the same station just to rest a bit but they manage somehow to lose the train. During the German Occupation, two brothers, Takis and Christos, fight the invaders with great ferocity. Both of them belong to resistance groups – different ones. After the withdrawal of the Germans, the two brothers find themselves in rival camps. One is a captain of ELAS (Greek People’s Liberation Army) and the other one a captain in the Greek army. In the attempt by ELAS to seize the Makrygiannis Gendarmerie Regiment, one of the brothers is killed. A little before the Civil War breaks out, the other brother is transferred to Florina. There, the heroes will experience the tragic events of the Civil War, until the complete collapse of the partisans on the ridges of Mt. Grammos.

The film is based on real events and tells the story of a group of Greeks who successfully escape from the Boules camp and return to Greece. Boules was a town that took in Greek refugees from the Civil War of 1945-1949. The escape took place because the exiled leaders of the illegal Communist Party of Greece began to exterminate their former comrades who did not share the views of the clique of the party's new secretary general, Nikos Zachariadis. The atmosphere in the camp was unbearable in every respect.

However, Antigone, who was betrothed to Creon's surviving son Haemon, defies Creon's orders and buries her brother. When Creon is reported of the attitude of Antigone, he sentences her to be placed in a tomb alive. Antigone hangs herself in the tomb and Haemon tries to kill his father first and then he kills himself with his sword...

Manos, owner of an entertainment center, is being watched by a mysterious woman. At the same time, the club's singer tries to get close to him, gaining the trust of his wife. She senses that something is wrong and, seduced by the appearance of an old flame, she leaves her husband, only to regret it immediately afterwards.

August 1944, and a captain in the Greek army in the Middle East, Jason, secretly disembarks on an island with the mission of gathering information on the state of the German defensive positions, in view of the imminent landing of the Allied Forces. To complete his mission, he makes contact with some rebels, but the Germans are aware of his presence and arrest twelve men to force him to surrender. Shortly before the deadline expires, a local man who had been declared a deserter shortly before the war began and had been in hiding, presents himself at his post and is executed, making his wife and son proud.
