Mies Bouhuys

Animation short by Harrie Geelen in which Dutch children's book authors talk about writing. For the film, Harrie Geelen interviewed the writers Paul Biegel, Tonke Dragt, Imme Dros, Henk Figee, Hans Hagen, Evert Hartman, Koos Minederts, Veronica Hazelhoff, Margriet Heymans, Wim Hofman, Peter van Gestel, Ted van Lieshout, Rindert Kromhout, Nannie Kuiper, Mensje van Keulen, Ienne Biemans, Jacques Vriens, Mies Bouhuys, Joke van Leeuwen, Dolf Verroen, Toon Tellegen, Willem van Toorn and Max Velthuijs.

The film is about four children of Spanish parents: Raimón, Fina, Isa, and Maribel. These children were born here, but their names were not listed in the Big Book of Sinterklaas. So the Head Piet says that they do not exist and that they will therefore not receive any presents.

The friendship between the impulsive and adventurous Pim and the more cautious Pom is put to the test when they are faced with trying to find their way home.

When Sint Nicholaas' steam boat gets stuck on the IJsselmeer on it's way to Holland, a young girl named Annabel and an old skipper called Eeltje Steur come to the rescue. When asked what kind of present Annabel would like to receive in her shoe on December 5th, she replies 'A house'.
