Duke Carlton, an actor stranded in a small western town, gets a job as a cowboy on Tim O'Brien's ranch as a reward for beating up "Flash" Corbin, a real estate agent who has been trying to swindle the rancher. A romance develops between the actor and Patsy O'Brien, the rancher's daughter, but it is interrupted by the appearance of his former stage partner, Vera Van Swank, who claims him as her husband. He clears himself of the bigamy charge, foils a plot to cheat the rancher out of a $90,000 land property, and wins the daughter's hand.

Jerry McKay (Jacqueline Logan), a spoiled and willful society girl, on the eve of a flighty engagement, decides to accompany her father to inspect some property he owns, managed by a handsome young engineer, James Warren (Robert Frazer). Jerry demonstrates her prowess as a marksman, though Warren has forbidden the use of firearms; and Tom Webb (Henry Sedley), an unscrupulous rancher, accuses Warren of inciting his men against him. Warren's stern rebuking infuriates Jerry, and she bets her friends that she can get him to propose within a week. She succeeds in winning his approval and then falls in love with him, but they are temporarily parted when he learns of the wager. She returns, however, to seek his forgiveness.

Jim Gordon, the son of a proud and loving father, enters the University of California as a student. There he meets Mary Ward, a campus coed who captures his heart on the first day. He becomes close friends with Larry Powell, his roommate, but incurs the wrath of Kenneth Slade, who is unable to take a practical joke. Jim and Larry attend a campus dance with Bessie and Phyllis, two vamps, and through a series of romantic complications Jim tries to convince Mary of his love for her.

A baby girl is left at the door of Brady, an Irish-policeman in New York City. He and his friends bid for her, and she is won by Uncle Ben Shapiro, a pawnbroker, who raises her to young womanhood, and is known as Sweet Rosie O'Grady. One day she goes to the rescue of Victor MacQuade, a young man from the high society set, who has been attacked by some east-side gang kids. The next day Victor, dressed as the family chauffeur, calls for her to go on on a ride. He goes home to change clothes while she peeks through the door at a charity costume-bazaar, and is swept inside by some late-arriving guests. She wins first prize for best costume, although she is dressed in the best she has. She flees angry and mortified. Since he has a larger house, she moves to Brady's home, one of her other foster-parents. Victor, who has fallen in love with Rosie, goes to Uncle Ben's shop and asks his permission to marry Rosie.

Bobby Vernon has just been married to Lila Lee, but her parents object and kidnap her to Reno, where, if not rescued, they will be divorced. It probably wouldn't hold up before a judge, but it does produce a fairly funny movie.

Stanley Gilmore, the son of a railroad president, atones for a series of wild escapades by traveling to Tennessee to secure a right-of-way through the property of farmer Dave Wade. Accompanied by his dog, Thunder, Stanley meets with Dave and initiates a friendship with the farmer's daughter, Patsy.

Champion college swimmer and summer lifeguard Ken Holmes saves Joan Stanton from drowning. They are sweethearts until a misunderstanding causes Joan to cast off Ken for his chief competitor, Herb Darrow. Joan promises Herb she will wear his fraternity pin if he wins the big swimming race at the hotel the next day. Despondent over his loss, Ken decides not to enter the race; later, he reconsiders when he learns that Joan is to wear Herb's pin if Herb wins. Ken wins the race and resolves his misunderstanding with Joan.

Tropical "heat" drives a man into the arms of a disreputable tramp, making things tough for the woman who really loves him.

Bill Mathews mistakenly comes to believe that his sweetheart, Sally Brown, prefers the company of his brother, Henry, to that of his own and dejectedly goes to the city, where he finds work driving a truck. Six months later Bill returns home; that very day, the Delno gang robs the bank and kidnaps Sally. Bill follows the outlaws in a plane and parachutes into their mountain hideout; he captures Delno's men and rescues Sally, who quickly convinces him that she has never loved another.

As a favor to her old chorus pal Mrs. Dexter, Broadway dancer Phyllis Sherwood agrees to play a joke on a client of Mrs. Dexter's lawyer husband. The client, a roving rogue named Clyde Thompson, has a habit of romancing married women and has already made up his mind to make Mrs. Dexter -- whom he's never met -- his next conquest. Phyllis poses as Mrs. D. to throw Clyde off the track, leading to an unending supply of humorous complications.

In the rural village of Mosville, inventor and fire chief Lem Blossom, the son of a pumpkin farmer, falls in love with unsophisticated country girl Mary Griggs. His rival is the worldly Tom Perkins, who is conspiring with her father, Joshua, to corner the pumpkin market. Unable to sell his pumpkins, Pa Blossom turns bootlegger in desperation. Lem learns that the pumpkin crop up north has been destroyed by frost and attempts to corner the market himself by offering a $1,000 prize for the largest pumpkin. When the Griggs home catches fire, Lem saves Mary and Joshua with the aid of his water pump and folding ladder, both of which he invented. Joshua then partners with Lem and approves the young man's betrothal to Mary.

Red Hepner and his sidekick Sidewinder Steve go in search of an outlaw

Harry Shelby has been kept in knee pants for years by his overprotective parents, but the day finally comes when Harry is given his first pair of long pants. Almost immediately, he is expected to marry his childhood sweetheart Priscilla... but instead, Harry's first heady whiff of manhood has got him panting after Bebe, a "fast" woman from the big city. Mistakenly thinking that Bebe fancies him too, Harry risks everything to help her out when she lands in jail, only to end up in hot water himself. Through it all, sweet Priscilla waits for her man to come to his senses.

Too Many Cookies is a comedy short

Canine star Rin Tin Tin makes his all-talking (all-barking?) debut in Warner Bros.' Frozen River. In characteristic fashion, Rinty braves the elements to rescue heroine Jane from the villains, a gang of cutthroats and thieves.

An escaped convict and the detective tasked with hunting him down end up working in parallel to clear the convict's name and nab the gangsters that framed him.

Edward Everett Horton is scheduled to go on a date with Duane Thompson. She, being only 25, is a schoolgirl at Aileen Manning's girl's school. Horton becomes trapped in the school, trying to avoid headmistress and cops.

John Pearson of Wall Street and his daughter Helen are out west on vacation to open his exclusive hunting lodge and are accompanied by Clyde Montgomorency.

Bingville is holding a beauty contest and the three finalists are Mary, Dora, and the Village Vamp. Dora's beau Eddie asks Walter, the contest judge, who will win, and is told that Dora will. Walter goes to the barber shop where the Village Vamp is the manicurist and her father is the barber, and advises them she will win. When they all arrive at the contest, Walter announces Mary as the winner. The mêlée that follows destroys the roadster that was the winner's prize.

Eddie and his wife rent a boat and plan a relaxing weekend fishing. Unfortunately, her mother and bratty kid brother show up and insist on coming along, sending relaxation right to the bottom of the ocean.
