The film is divided into two episodes, The Hair of Disgrace and The Magician, both focusing on the theme of the occult and beliefs. The title translates as "Eye, Evil Eye, Parsley and Fennel".

The life and times of Armando Feroci, a fortyish year old, who's been everything, a divorced husband, a careless father, an unreliable brother. The story is told in flashback by his friends while Armando has been mysteriously kidnapped in an Arab country by an integralist group and condemned to death.

The vicissitudes of three couples of newlyweds from the celebration of weddings to their respective honeymoons.

Reporter Marcello has a brief encounter with Irene while waiting for a train. A young woman who has lost her sight finds herself falling for the voice of a ship's captain she hears over a radio broadcast. Egle, a massage therapist who is soon to be married, finds herself pursuing one last fling with Gabriele -- though the odds are not in her favor, since he happens to be gay. Elena is a young woman with a child who wants to abandon her husband. And Carla wonders if she has any future at all with her lover -- who is married to someone else.

Two neighbours, young Vincenzo and old Mr Bartoloni, are utterly unhappy. On the one hand, Vincenzo must lead a miserable and frustrating life as he cannot find any regular job, despite his Arts degree. On the other, Mr Bartoloni is fed up with his despotic wife: the woman who used to be a beautiful artist is now a fat and shabby drunkard. The two men meet on a particularly sad night and, during an outburst, Mr. Bartoloni asks Vincenzo to help him to get rid of his wife by simulating an accident with the promise of a reward.
