Born over a tofu shop in Osaka, twin sisters Reiko and Kyoko have very different characters. Reiko is diligent, and longs for a secure, middle class lifestyle. Kyoko is a free spirit, who seeks thrills and adventure.

Y, a young man on a remote island, had thrown away his phone, unable to trust people. The only one he connected with was Yuko, a woman from a net cafe. He lent her 3,000 yen, and they shared childhood memories of a cosmos field. One day, a letter and the 3,000 yen arrive; visiting the address inside, Y finds a vast field of cosmos in bloom. He learns to trust again.

Window cleaners Tatsuyo, Yuusuke, Kazuma, Kudou, and Hagiwara are of different ages and backgrounds, but work side by side with their heads in the clouds. The oldest of the group, 40-year-old Hagiwara is already a husband and father but hasn't given up his dream of becoming a novelist. Young aspiring musicians Tatsuyo and Yuusuke keep trying their luck with record labels, but their demos go straight to the trash can. Suddenly the constant noise of the bustling crowd is drowned out by a high school girl (Aimi Satsukawa) shrieking in anger. Mizusawa is startled, but also confused by the fact that nobody in the area but him seemed to care or even notice. His fascination with figuring out exactly what makes young girls want to come to Shibuya in the first place makes him determined to find out more about her.

Set in Kyokuhoku Citizen Hospital in Hokkaido, Japan. "Kyokuhoku Rhapsody" follows the life of a young doctor for a one year period. Yoshio Imanaka works at the Kyokuhoku Hospital that is losing staff members and facing bankruptcy. During this difficult time, Yoshio Imanaka meets hairdresser Kozue Namiki and falls in love.
