Wendy was educated at Grammar School and the the University of Cambridge. She acted with drama societies, then rep. and the Royal Shakespeare Company. On television, she appeared in many dramas for the BBC and ITV and interpersed with theatre and radio. She is also a qualified teacher of French and English. Wendy was married to actor John Cater and their daughter, Emma, appeared with Wendy in "The Doctors".
