The plot concerns Kyoko, a young Japanese woman married to a man in France. When he abandons her, she returns to Japan. In pre-war Japan, Yumiko, an aristocratic lady, accompanied by her maid, travels to Tokyo to visit her brother. The movie takes place in four periods: the first, a group of female Christians are raped and crucified in 18th century Japan. The second deals with a man who beats his cheating wife and her lover. The third, is set in WW2 where inquisition soldiers torture, rape and abuse female traitors, and the fourth story deals with soldiers raping and abusing suspected female spies.

It was a tumultuous time. In the early Meiji period, there was the first photographer in Japan who lived a heroic life. What fascinated him with photography was a photograph of a naked woman.

College student Ozaki tries to talk to Sumire, the florist's daughter. However, Kakuta, a fellow lodger, is also after her. The two men fight, but Ozaki is defeated in one blow by Kakuta, who practices Shaolin Kung Fu. However, Kakuta is rejected by Sumire in one go for groping her.
