The film was directed by Giuliano Cenci with assistance from his brother Renzo. During production, Carlo Collodis grandchildren Mario and Antonio Lorenzini were consulted. The subtle movements made by fidgeting children whilst speaking or under scrutiny were incorporated into Pinocchios movements, particularly when he lies to the Fairy with the Turquoise Hair over the fate of his gold coins. For the design of the Fairy, Italian portrayals of the Blessed Virgin Mary in art were used as starting points.

Reverend Miller arrives in Tucson where he wants to build a church. But on the very day of his arrival a gang carries out a raid on the bank and the people of Tucson, who are suspicious of the new reverend because he carries a gun, immediately blame him for the robbery. The sheriff saves him from lynching by putting him in jail. Then he asks the priest to find the gang and the booty; thus Miller becomes the Reverend Colt. His exceptional skill means that he can shoot hats off people's heads and their pistols from their pockets, but he never kills.

An industrial overpowered by debts decides to kill his creditor. Not having the courage to do it in person, he hired his former employee who needs money.

Elio is a member of a group of youngsters, all from good families, who have fun spending their days taking on silly challenges and perpetrating illicit activities. Their actions escalate and lead them to commit a robbery. Unfortunately, the robbery ends badly and a death ensues, leaving the group implicated in a murder. A comedy poking fun at earlier 1930s American crime films: A society lady goes after a gang of outlaws and lands up becoming involved romantically with a gangster.

A veteran of the African War, along with two young men, one of whom is newly married, are called to arms to defend their homeland's borders. They will be protagonists of dramatic events involving assaults, retreats, and life in the trenches.
