The story of František, a selfish yet loving man who made his living as a musician on ocean cruise ships. He gradually became estranged from his family and ended up alone. On the advice of friends, he sets out to find his daughter in the village of Svatá Helena, a thousand kilometers away in the Romanian Banat region. Meeting people who live in harmony with God and nature and searching for his daughter, who has not been in touch, eventually reconciles František with the idea that he fears so much with advancing age: that he will live out his life in exile and solitude. A personal and political biography of the Octopus, or the Prague National Library project, but also a biography of the last years of the life of the author of this design, Jan Kaplický, who wrote in his diary in 1998: to win the competition and have one love. With this entry, read by Eliška Kaplicky at the beginning of the film, it is as if the world-class Czech architect wrote not only the "script" for the final decade of his life, but also for a film that follows the dramatic social story of creative imagination and the intimate relationship between a man and a woman.

Stage mime Antoine Moreau is compelled by the Gestapo to put on a performance for the children of Terezin, a "model" concentration camp, to convince the Red Cross observers that the camp is truly what it seems. Reluctant at first, Moreau slowly learns the true nature of the camp, including the meaning of the "transports" on which people leave. With a world-class orchestra (made up of people interned in the camp) and a cast of children, Moreau stages a show to end all shows.

This sharp Czech soda first appeared on Czech Television screens on June 4, 1993, and for four years it fundamentally changed the concept of Czech television satire and pushed the boundaries of viewer tolerance into completely unprecedented, uncomfortable zones. The feature film summarized the most vivid episodes of the show and still feels like an uncompromising, comprehensive punch to the solar plexus.

The dreaded Italian mafioso, Marian Labuda, will also be convinced. Mafioso Carmello was guilty of the principles of his organization when he tried to fool the boss and earned a death sentence. The convict runs away from the killer through Vienna to Prague, which his Austrian colleague in crime recommended as a safe hiding place. None of them knows that the Czechs learned so much tricks under real socialism that a seasoned Italian professional is not enough to watch.

This wacky musical comedy builds on absurd ideas, parodic humour and many variously subverted references to famous...
