This wacky prequel to the 1994 blockbuster goes back to the lame-brained Harry and Lloyd's days as classmates at a Rhode Island high school, where the unprincipled principal puts the pair in remedial courses as part of a scheme to fleece the school.

Jackie Moon is the owner, promoter, coach, and star player of the Flint Michigan Tropics of the American Basketball Association (ABA), the worst team in the league. In 1976 before the ABA collapses, the NBA plans to merge with the best teams of the ABA at the end of the season. Only the top four teams will make the move and the worst teams will fold. If the Tropics want to make it to the NBA, Jackie Moon must rally his team and start winning.

Set during the height of World War II, Horizon centers on Lauren, a secretary at the FBI who begins a secretive investigation into files that have been stamped with the codename "horizon." The mysterious project provides links to the presumed death of her husband and the disappearance of a young girl.

Mother's good boy Benny Silman from Brooklyn becomes an economics student at Arizona State University for the sun and sexy girls- and the proximity of gambling paradise Las Vegas. Benny aces his studies, being a mathematical genius, but the one who earns money from him at sports is bookie Troy, who however recruits him as subcontractor, making a few thousand for himself. The next year Benny starts for himself, with a few dozen student vassals, and makes a hundredfold.

While working out at training camp, Jake receives an call from that his father Frank has suffered a major heart attack. Jake immediately leaves practice and returns home to a small town he’s avoided for 15 years. Memories of glory and regret flood his mind as he returns to family and friends he once abandoned in pursuit of his career. Jake dutifully visits his father, but hurt and misunderstanding from the past begin to resurface. A second unexpected call, this time from his agent, delivers Jake another crushing blow. His contract is not being renewed amid concerns about his surgically repaired knee. Suddenly, the life Jake knows is over.
