Homesick for America, Jack and his pals get aboard a ship U. S.-bound disguised as entertainers. As entertainers they're flops, but evoke considerable mirth among the passengers by their efforts. Jack arouses the jealousy of a Frenchman, who is keen on a young French girl, and is challenged to a fight. The Frenchman fights a la Savatte (the French method, including kicking, bucking, etc.) and is getting the better of Jack, until the latter dons a pair of hobnailed brogans. He consents to remove these if his adversary will put boxing gloves on his feet. The Frenchman gets seasick and is counted out as he leans over the rail, where he is soon joined by Jack.

By chance, Jack discovers the photograph of Rita, presumably the property of Chester, and when he sees his wife kissing Chester, a running fight ensues.

Their trainer, Tom, catches his two-star baseball men fighting and breaks benches Ed. The Calford team is up against a strong rival college and Don tricks Ed out of the honor of pitching. For eight innings Calford does well, until Don "blows up," and Ed gets back into the game and wins.

Jockey Johnny Spencer loses his job with Mrs. Calhoun for throwing a race. An adventuress named Sybil, who made Johnny hold back Mrs. Calhoun's horse, Lady, leaves him, and he becomes a racetrack bum. Johnny returns to Mrs. Calhoun's stable when the new jockey proves unable to manage Lady. Johnny wins the next race, thereby regaining Mrs. Calhoun's confidence and winning the love of her attractive daughter, Lucy.

Kid Roberts, the champion, thoroughly beats a tough Westerner (from Chickasha, OK) who follows him from city to city, determined to get even. The man taunts the Kid, by insisting that he is afraid to fight without gloves. Finally his wife appears and begs the Kid to refuse to fight her husband because he is neglecting his ranch and family. The Kid's sweetheart and the ranchman's wife do some scheming and succeed in ending the fights, but not until the Kid has beaten his opponent with his bare hands. On the steamer going over to London the "Kid" falls in love with a senator's daughter and his manager is too sick to keep him in any training. After a week or two of training the "Kid" enters the ring only to find that his rival is one of his sparring partners. Knowing all the "Kid's" punches the opponent scores many points during the combat but suffers a punch in the jaw which loosens a tooth. The "Kid" waits for the moment when the terrible fighter must turn his head to spit out the tooth before he gives him the final knock-out punch.
