In mid-July, Mike, Bill, Eric and I played a set of songs at a friend’s 40th birthday party in Cancun. Now as you know, we don’t normally do party gigs but… for one night only, we played some stuff we’ve never done before. In addition to songs by Spock’s Beard, Flying Colors, and NMB, we did a bunch of covers and jam material, and we were joined by Melody Portnoy and Julie Harrison. We didn’t plan to release this, but when I realized it was recorded on audio and video, I thought this would be a great thing to share with the Inner Circle – a true one-off performance that you’ll not get anywhere else! The Neal Morse Band, the progressive rock collective comprised by singer/guitarist/keyboardist Neal Morse, drummer Mike Portnoy, bassist Randy George, keyboardist Bill Hubauer and guitarist Eric Gillette, released their critically admired double-disc concept album The Similitude of a Dream, almost two years ago on November 11th, 2016. Acclaimed prog rocker Neal Morse returns with a new live set, Jesus Christ The Exorcist: Live At Morsefest 2018. As the title suggests, this new live album and DVD and Blu-ray, was captured at the annual Morsefest in 2018, where Neal and band performed his then new album, Jesus Christ The Exorcist in its entirety. This unique live album presents the entire "Jesus Christ The Exorcist" story set as a progressive rock musical. Here, the biggest change from any typical Neal Morse performance was that he was the musical director and not the main performer.

Randy has put together a short tour doc and we have a bunch of footage from the concert in Athens from 2013, and I think you are really going to enjoy this exclusive DVD coming your way this May. The footage was shot by the venue, I think, and it is not the highest quality in the world and the audio is camera audio unmixed and unpolished, however I think you will enjoy seeing and hearing us at this rare performance in Athens. My recollection of that night was that even though we were possibly as tired as I have ever been going into a performance, that is was one of the best gigs I have ever performed.
