The film tells a thrilling, humorous and emotional story of a couple of young people who are brought together by chance on a pilgrimage through the city and the Danube countryside. A young convict on the run from prison is accidentally crossed by a young girl whom he kidnaps. However, the girl develops a special relationship with her captor, gradually transforming him from a hostage into a fellow prisoner. Nor has she experienced much good in her short life. Pepe and Prengel, returning from war, meet Ester and both fall in love with the girl and live together in a deserted house. Fanatic communist, Zelmira, wants to turn their world upside-down.

While searching for a criminal, investigators find themselves in a series of dramatic and dangerous situations. The risk is even greater when the dangerous man is not being tracked by a professional team of criminal investigators, but by a private individual. This is the case of journalist Gavlas, who finds himself in a dangerous situation while performing his profession. Anonymous threatens him with death if he does not abandon his profession. Gavlas must deal not only with the problem of his personal attitude towards the principles of the journalistic profession, but above all he must uncover and neutralize a hidden adversary.

A comedy about Simon, an honest, clever confectioner. In practical life, the humble bachelor becomes an easy prey to his boss, his mother, and hordes of women eager to get married. The story incorporates well-tested methods of nearly all major periods in the history of film comedy: from a lumierish etude with the garden hose to a melancholic tramp to the menace of the streets Jacques Tati. Director Juraj Herz made a major contribution to the modest tradition of Slovak film comedy.
