A snowstorm, a very small dog, an alcoholic roommate, dreams in German, and an apartment that’s always cold. This is Fanny’s winter, and it might very well never end.

Sara and Adam, and their two-year-old daughter, arrive in Belgium illegally, hoping to finally make their way on to England. Crammed together with other hopefuls in the back of a van, fear begins to prevail. Redouane has been a policeman for 20 years. Every night, he and his team hunt down smugglers throughout the busy motorway network. That night, when he and his partner try to force a van suspected of transporting migrants to stop, everything changes.

One evening, at the bend of an alley, an ordinary man surprises two young people who have just committed a crime. In panic, the teenagers take this witness hostage and drag him into their escape. Then begins for two generations that everything separates, an inner journey which will mark the three souls forever.

A long-term solitary task, in which images are moved by hand, centimetre by centimetre, in which one plays with the number of images per second, and in which the ± pure quest for effects is more important than the message”.
