Wynona Cheyney

Wynona Cheyney was a South African actress. Prior to becoming a beauty queen, Wynona Millicent Cheyney was an accomplished dancer. As a young girl she came first in her category at the National Eisteddfod and later obtained a certificate from the Royal Academy of Dancing. In 1949 she became the third Miss South Africa in an unofficial beauty pageant, keeping the title until 1951. After that she appeared in two revues, namely The Craziest Show on Earth, and Wet Paint, both produced at the Reps Theatre towards the end of 1953. Her first film was Alles Sal Regkom! (Hyman Kirstein/1951) with Al Debbo and Frederik Burgers, followed by Vadertjie Langbeen (Pierre de Wet/1955), Matieland! (Pierre de Wet/1955), Rip van Wyk (Emil Nofal/1960) and Hans en die Rooinek / Sidney and the Boer (Jamie Uys/1961). She also spent some time in England, appearing in an episode of the television series The Adventures of Sir Lancelot (1956) credited as Nona Cheyney. In between films she concentrated on her modelling career. She was married and divorced at least three times, including to Nigel Steggall, who had a role in the Al Debbo film Gevaarlike Spel (1962).
Acting credits
Trudi Adendorff lives in an orphanage all her life, until the day she completes her matric and an unknown benefactor sends her to university. He is Jacques de Villiers, a handsome businessman, and his only requirements are: she must not know his name and she must write to him regularly about her progress. However, he never writes back.

9.0Hans and Sydney are on a bus tour to the Cape. Hans is Afrikaans; Sydney is English. They chat up two pretty young women - and also quarrel between themselves all the way. Finally the tour guide kicks them off, forcing the two men to walk back to Johannesburg hoping that, despite the language barrier, they can finally get along.

In the fictional town of Spoggenpoelville, Mr. Spog and Mr. Poel rule supreme. Though not particularly bright, they run and own everything. To boot, they are the town’s mayor and deputy mayor. But one day two men from Johannesburg throw a spanner in the works. Mr. Brand and Mr. Borelli want to buy a piece of Spoggenpoelville, complete with mineral rights. Spog and Poel say no. To retaliate, the two speculators decide to run for mayor and deputy mayor. Suddenly Spog and Poel must learn how to become politicians, charm the ladies and outwit the villains, all the while trying to evade a clown-like figure who wants to sell them a goldmine.
