The movie is set in a world where the human desire for order and rules has outlasted everything else. This world follows different social rules and norms, and people's purpose in life is to stand in line. This is simply accepted and even seen as sensible and important. Cal, however, begins to question society and the system because of his situation and finally finds the courage to break out of the queue.

When a homeless and drug-addicted girl realizes she is pregnant, her world falls apart—until she realizes that the situation could open the way back to life.

After spending the last three months setting up a midwifery school in Namibia, midwife Antonia Hellmann returns to Lake Tegernsee with her adopted son Nahas.

Single mother Ulla is constantly worried about the well-being and safety of her teenage daughter Julia. Her father is much more carefree and has even bought her tickets to a concert in Italy. Ulla doesn't want her daughter to go alone with her best friend, but Julia ignores her mother's wishes and drives south without her permission. When they find out that the concert was only excuse to meet a boy she met on the internet, they set their differences aside and travel to Italy to find their daughter.

Princess Elisabeth, the beautiful only child of a widowed queen is sent off to marry the prince Leopold to whom she is betrothed. Before she leaves, her mother presents her with a small token.
