The good-natured scholar Christian-Theodore arrives in a small country where miracles occur. He falls in love with the beautiful Princess, whose marriage is a matter of national importance, because her husband will become the new king. But unlike many “suitors”, selfish thoughts are alien to Christian-Theodore. He is sincerely fascinated by her beauty and releases his Shadow, hoping to get a faithful helper in his quest to marry the Princess. But the Shadow is the embodiment of egoism, greed and meanness. A puppy, born with a strangely light-blue coat, finds himself shunned by all. No one wants to play with him or call him a friend — even the Grey Dogs keep their distance. But when a fearsome Pirate suddenly attacks the island, he enlists the Black Cat’s help to kidnap the Blue Puppy.

A bandit wearing a black mask, having shot the train, takes a bag of gold coins from the post car and hides on his horse. The bandit takes refuge in the ranch, driving out the farmer and his cow. The farmer and the cow leave for the nearest town. In the saloon, the farmer sees an announcement of a reward of one thousand coins for catching a bandit in a black mask. Then he tells local cowboys where the bandit is hiding. Cowboys go to catch a bandit, but they return back all wounded.

After another trick of mice, Leopold the Cat is visited by a dog doctor who prescribes him to take Ozirin to help him deal with mice. But Leopold doesn't follow the instructions and instead of taking one pill, as written in the prescription, he intakes the whole thing at once and goes wild.
