Erben's original text, which did not exceed half a page in length, served Zelenka only as a source of inspiration to write a plot-rich story about two brothers, one of whom lives in luxury because Luck helped him to wealth, and the other lives in absolute poverty because he loves him Poverty, and she, out of love for him, doesn't want to allow him to get rich and let his life be complicated by worrying about possessions. However, not only the struggle with poverty and the arrogance that comes from owning a large property are the main motives of this charming comedy, which is intended for children of all ages. The desire for love and the search for happiness in life plays an important role in this sometimes very exciting story, and an equally important motive here is the motive of forgiveness of guilt in the name of more permanent values, among which in this case the relationship of two brothers can be included.

The story is based on Operation Stone, during which State Security agents deliberately misled citizens of the Czechoslovak Republic who were attempting to leave the country illegally by creating fake borders and fake border patrols and interrogation teams from American, German, and French authorities. During interrogations, State Security officers convinced detainees that they had actually crossed the state border of our republic and obtained information from unsuspecting people, which was then used in criminal proceedings.

This romantic comedy presents a story of two women, twenty-year-old Laura, an editor at a woman’s weekly, and her widowed mother, a translator-interpreter named Jana. The two of them tirelessly seek Mr. Right. Having once lived through an intense relationship with a ‘typical’ Czech man, Jana intentionally avoids Czech men. She searches for her dream foreigner while long-sufferingly warding off the tragicomic advances of her good-natured neighbor Žemla. After several unsuccessful attempts, Laura falls in love with Oliver, a forty year old who works as an ad agency idea man. Little does she suspect that twenty years ago Oliver was Jana’s true love…

Although this is a classic fairy tale, you will see a number of new characters in it. Right at the beginning, you will meet three fairies, Týna, Mína, and Vesna, who bring their two young charges, Isabel and Felicia, to the royal ball. The king chooses Felicia as his bride, while the other, Isabel, swears terrible revenge. Fortunately, the curse she casts over the cradle of the little princess Růženka is mitigated by the wise fairy Vesna, but she is unable to break it. And so the whole kingdom lives in fear of the approaching sixteenth birthday of Princess Sleeping Beauty. Despite all the ingenious precautions, Isabella achieves her goal and the whole kingdom falls into a deep sleep. Fortunately, there is a spell more powerful than all others—love? Two rescuers set out to wake Sleeping Beauty: the gardener Janek and Prince Matyáš. Which of them is the right one, and what will happen to the evil Isabela? You'll find out this Christmas.
