In the first hour of the new year 1965, a holiday program with the participation of Pavel Rudakov and Sergei Lavrov, Larisa Mondrus, Tatiana Shmyga, Leonid Engibarov, Arkady Raikin, brothers Sazonov, Iosif Kobzon, Maya Kristalinskaya, Muslim Magomaev, vocal octet "Line" and pop orchestra conducted by Eddie Rosner, Yulia Pashkovskaya, Vladimir Shubarin, Eduard Khil, quartet "Accord" was broadcast. A combination of performances by masters of their arts, this film takes place during the Leningradskoye Leto – the Leningrad "White Nights" annual summer musical festival, featuring music stars, young opera singers, ballet, pop, circus, and amateur artists. Reporters Kostya and Bob are rushing everywhere trying to document the entire festival. Beautiful young singer Svetlana is pursued throughout the festive events by a hopelessly shy police lieutenant, whose unexpected infatuation leaves him unable to speak, but gives him a beautiful baritone voice.

The King, wanting for his daughter to be found and returned to his castle, hires Detective to carry out the task. He successfully kidnaps and returns Princess back to the kingdom, but Troubadour and his animal friends Bremen Town Musicians hurry to release her.

The works of Azerbaijani composers are performed by M. Magomaev, R. Beyrutov, Z. Khanlarova, O. Agaev, F. Kerimova, P. Bül-Bül-oglu, the vocal quartet "Gaya," and the instrumental quartet conducted by R. Babaev. The concert also features the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Azerbaijan SSR and ballet artists R. Akhundov and V. Pletnev with a number from K. Karaev's ballet "Seven Beauties."
