The vicissitudes of six different couples who arrive at a hostel in Buenos Aires called La Cigarra and are quarantined because of a supposed bubonic plague, causing all kinds of inconveniences and entanglements as a result of this forced coexistence.

The story takes place in San Antonio de Areco, in the Argentine pampas. Fabio Cáceres remembers his childhood as an orphan and his youth working in the fields, alongside his godfather, Don Segundo Sombra, a lonely gaucho whom he admires and from whom he will learn to be a gaucho, following him in all his adventures. Don Segundo will be Fabio's role model.

A group of young aristocrats lock themselves up, for fun, on a terrace in a wealthy building in Buenos Aires. Their parents try to get them out, but they threaten to jump down if any adults enter the terrace.

A film producer, his wife (an actress) and her lover (a young scriptwriter) are part of a love triangle that will lead to a crime. It is set during the decay of Argentinian cinema studios.
