Celso Guimarães

In Rio de Janeiro, Gilberto (Celso Guimarães) is a talented artisan engaged of Marina (Lídia Mattos), working in a pottery factory. He is hired by the millionaire widow Luciana (Carmem Santos) to perform a restoration in her castle in Correas, a district of Petrópolis. He suffers an accident and Luciana lodges and treats him for a long period, and they fall in love for each other.

Roberto is blind and tunes pianos, isolated from the world and hurt by having abandoned his promising career as a pianist due to the accident that took his sight. An orphan is sent to a reformatory where the inmates receive an extremely repressive education. While visiting the place, a teacher hears the orphan's indignant complaints about the mistreatment. Impressed, he adopts this 16-year-old girl, who at 24 graduated in Social Sciences. Now she has a name: Vitória dos Santos, and her concern is to help the girls who, like her, suffer in the city's asylums.
