Bubbi Morthens

Jónas, working in peace and quiet in an isolated summerhouse, hires a young girl, Sandra, to cook for and look after him, and complete an ideal situation for an Icelandic writer on the brink of an international breakthrough. The plan, however, does not turn out the way Jónas intended.

A new kind of beauty contest, Miss Iceland.is, was established in Iceland in 2000. Hrönn Sveinsdóttir joined the contest to make a film.

Hubert is a shy and introverted graphic designer who hasn't been too successful when approaching women. When he falls in love with Hanna, he tries to impress her by resorting to mimicking his boss, a notorious womanizer. Rokk í Reykjavík (Rock in Reykjavik) gives a thorough overview of the powerful and expanding rock scene in Iceland. Most of the film consists of performances by a wide variety of rock-groups in various clubs in Reykjavik in 1981-82. There are also interviews with members of the groups representing different views on such features of the rock scene as sex, drugs and politics. 19 groups appear in the film.
