In 18th-century Trento—a troubled city strained by crime and archaic laws dating back to the 1500s—a complex web of mysteries, conspiracies, thefts, and murders unfolds, all based on actual historical events. Filming for the project's pilot episode—based on the popular mystery book series by author Mauro Neri—took place entirely in Trentino.

A fourth character is added to the three, Herrmugnen, who in the story embodies the mythological figure of the giant hero.
