When an artist of the stature of Quincy Jones celebrates his 75th birthday you can be sure it's going to be quite a party. The main concert lasted over two and a half hours and the musicians then spilled out into the bars and cafes of Montreux with the music still going strong as the sun was coming up the next morning! Only a few times in history has a musician been singled out as the world-class master of his instrument. Billy Cobham is one of those few artists. For over 30 years, he has received international acclaim as the total consummate drummer. Billy Cobham's explosive technique powered some of the fusion genre's most important early recordings -- including groundbreaking efforts by Miles Davis and Mahavishnu Orchestra -- before he became an accomplished band leader in his own right. At his best, Cobham harnessed his amazing dexterity into thundering high octane hybrids of jazz complexity and rock and roll aggression. He was capabale of subtler, funkier grooves on the one hand, and awe-inspiring solo improvisations on the other.

This is clearly underlined in the live recording made in September 2002 at the Paris New Morning club. The New Morning - The Paris Concert DVD contains twelve great tracks, where all of the musicians involved show themselves to be fantastic soloists. High points are the new versions of "Crosswinds", "Dreamer", "Mister BC", "Dessiccated Coconuts", "Stratus" and "Spectrum".

Music legends Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Billy Cobham team up to form the World of Rhythm in this concert performance captured live at Plazzo dei Congressi, Lugano in January of 1983. Songs include "Toys", "Little Waltz", "Princess", "Walking" and more.
